Unlike all previous models of Volvo Estates, a small modification has to be made to the trim prior to fitting your Tailgate Guard, please proceed as follows:
- Remove rear interior light assembly, Flick off lens, remove holder secured by screw. (T25 torque screwdriver required)
- Carefully remove plastic trim top of vehicle tailgate frame, this is secured by press-fit clips
- There are two large plastic locating points in the centre of the trim approx. 41cm (16”) apart, (distance between top mounting mechanism tubes). These locating points have to be cut off and drilled out to 10mm (3/8”), when drilled confirm that the locking tubes will go through the drilled holes, they may need filing out slightly larger as the tube outside diameter can vary.
- Replace the trim and interior light.
- Prior to fitting the Barjo Tailgate Guard remove the guard door by opening and lifting the door from its hinges.
- On the base of the guard there are two lugs, these locate into the gap between the spare wheel cover and the vehicle rear sill, place the guard into the vehicle in a central position and place the lugs down into the gap
- Locate the top locking mechanism tubes into the previously drilled holes and turn the jacking wing nuts to expand the locking mechanism until firmly located
- Replace the tailgate door and you Barjo Tailgate Guard is now ready for use
- To remove the guard simply reveres operations 7-9
Care of your Barjo Tailgate Guard: To clean use a weak solution of car shampoo, dry and lubricate moving parts with WD40 or similar light machine oil.
